Spiegeloog 424: Irrational

Spiegeloog 424: ‘Irrational’ – Editorial

By February 13, 2023February 13th, 2024No Comments

Dear readers,

As psychologists, we more often than not recognise the unpredictability of human behaviour. We refer to it when we speak of individual differences or emotional responses, and in abnormal psychology you might even argue that it’s a leading assumption. For this issue of Spiegeloog 424: Irrational, we welcome our editor Clara.

Jules starts our issue by introducing us to somatic therapy as an alternative to CBT. Clara’s first piece covers complex trauma and what it can do to our cognition, while Vadim presents us with a Foucauldian discourse analysis of an encounter between two students. Following this, Ayla writes about how our perception is shaped by our unique social context. Aline describes the unique experience of BPD interacting with love, while Ella writes about rap music and it’s influence in Swedish communities. Anika does a deep dive into irrational numbers, paradigms and psychopathology. Sara’s article analyses toxic relationships and why we stay.

As for our columns: Aki visits the Theatre of Broken Memories exhibition at Foam for Art Affairs and Mary reviews the mini series The Patient for Camera Obscura. Finally, Nitya closes this issue with her Bacchus, written as a stream-of-consciousness.

Enjoy the new issue!
